Rock Exotica began in a garage 28 years ago. Much has changed since those days of manual production and graph paper designs. However, one thing has stayed the same: Our desire to produce the most innovative technical equipment available. In an age when many companies no longer actually make anything, but rather just promote their brand and sub out the manufacturing, we are an anachronism. We manufacture our gear ourselves, in Utah. We’ve never gone in search of foreign low-cost products upon which to only place our brand, and we never will
"Petzl's mission is to create innovative tools and services that allow men and women to progress, position, and protect themselves in vertical environments, as well as to light their way in the dark. This drive manifests itself in our never-ending search to find the best solutions for user needs in the spheres of performance, ergonomics, comfort, and reliability. Beyond the product itself, the demands, commitment, and willingness of users to face risks in the field are what guide our approach to supporting them in their pursuit of the inaccessible. From preparation to realization."

PMI’s commitment to providing high quality rope at reasonable prices has remained steady. As a company of rope users -climbers, cavers, and rescuers – PMI has good reason to hold the people who use their rope in high esteem. By understanding the needs of the rope user PMI has been able to help define and drive the quality and production of life safety ropes that meet the needs of those who use them.
An important priority of PMI is wrapped up in standards development – creation and implementation of standards that help to maintain the integrity of life safety ropes and keep the user of the ropes safe. PMI actively participates in the rope related standards efforts of the Cordage Institute as well as ANSI, ASTM, NFPA and UIAA, and is engaged in safety programs with several trade organizations and industry peers.

As we grow, it’s important to continue to acknowledge and honor our roots.
The origin of Kong began a
long time ago, in 1830 in a workshop at the foot of the Alps where Giuseppe Bonaiti gave rise to our story, writing important pages for Made in Italy.
The care to provide maximum protection for human lives, together with the dreams that men will “hang” while climbing peaks, led Bonaiti to export his products and philosophy throughout the
world.
His carabiners have become a real fixture for everyone who practices vertical disciplines.
In 1977, the Bonaiti company changed its name to Kong, but its mission remains the same.
“To manufacture safety where risk is the protagonist”
